Mike is a Senior Strategist at CivicActions. Previously he was the president and founder of OpenConcept Consulting Inc.. For over 20 years he has worked to shape open source software and the communities around them. He is continuing to play that role in CivicActions, which has strong roots with the Drupal CMS, open source software, open data, and civic technology. Based in Ottawa, Mike continues to work to break down the barriers between government departments in the use of open source. 

In 2008, Mike began building a community of global experts in accessibility to help shape Drupal 6 & 7. In 2012, Mike was officially made a Drupal Core Accessibility Maintainer. Mike was the founder of A11yYOW, a Ottawa based accessibility community. This unconference/camp/meetup was part of a global community of digital accessibility advocates, working for a more inclusive world. He has presented at several accessibility conferences including CSUN & M-Enabling. Mike has also presented at DrupalCon, Drupal GovCon & the Government of Canada’s CodeFest.
