Brian Bost is Partner, Advisory Services at KPMG. Brian has over 29 years of experience focused on the provision of risk management, internal audit, external audit, costing and other advisory services gained during his employment with KPMG. In addition to KPMG Brian has also been employed with the Department of National Defence, Department of Fisheries and Oceans, and the Office of the Auditor General of Canada. Brian specializes in the provision of advisory services to the Canadian federal government, Crown corporations and other not-for-profit (NFP) organizations. Brian obtained his Fellow from CPA Ontario in 2016. Brian is the national Risk Management Leader for KPMG’s Risk Consulting practice.

Brian has led numerous projects to facilitate the development of leading practices locally, nationally and internationally within Costing, Internal Audit, Internal Control and Risk Management. Brian has co-developed various tools and methodologies, including KPMG’s Management Control Framework Evaluation tool and KPMG’s Risk Management Diagnostic Tool, and has been an active presenter Internationally, providing presentations on various topics including Internal Audit, Risk Management, Performance Measurement and Sarbanes-Oxley for the IIA, Federated Press, KPMG International, Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) and Financial Management Institute. Brian has written and published many articles and guides on a variety of costing, internal audit, interna;l control, and risk topics.

Brian is an active member of the professional community. Brian is past Chair of the Canadian Audit and Accountability Foundation (formerly CCAF), having held previous positions of Treasurer and Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee. In addition, Brian is the past President of the Ottawa Chapter of the IIA, having held other chapter leadership positions in certifications, member services and past-president. Brian was also a member of the International Internal Audit Advisory Committee for Treasury Board, providing Internal Audit advice to the Controller General and Assistant Controller General on various Internal Audit matters. Brian has also been the Events Chair and Director of the Ottawa Rotary Home for over 10 years, Brian is also the KPMG Ottawa Community lead for our community work with WE and the Martin Aboriginal Education Initiative (Gloucester High School and formerly Rideau High School).
