Sylvie Binnah Nyamunga

Sylvie Binnah Nyamunga is a researcher and legal professional with expertise in international law, public governance, human rights, and security policy. She is currently completing her Master of Arts in Public and International Affairs at the University of Ottawa, with research interests centred on the governance dimensions of justice, counter-violent extremism, and access to rights in fragile and conflict-affected contexts

Drawing on years of field-based experience, Sylvie has led complex research and policy initiatives for organizations including the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the Public International Law & Policy Group, and the Fund for Global Human Rights. Her work spans multi-method research design, counter-terrorism programming, and legal empowerment, and includes a published urban safety governance assessment for UNODC and policy contributions to Kenya’s official Alternative Justice Systems Policy. Most recently, she supported the governance and program evaluation of the Canadian Intergovernmental Conference Secretariat (CICS) in Ottawa.

Sylvie holds an LLM in International Law from Oxford Brookes University and an LLB from the University of Sheffield.
