Paul has more than 18 years of experience in as an executive leading program design and delivery, risk management and policy development. This includes over 6 years as Vice President, Policy and Program and of the Science Branch at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).

In addition to his executive leadership within Canada, Paul has extensive international experience as Canada’s representative to numerous international organizations, including committees of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), and the World Health Organization (WHO). He has been recognized by his international peers for his leadership, including in the United Nations standard setting body, the Codex Alimentarius Commission, where he was elected by its member countries to two consecutive terms as its Vice-Chairman. Paul also previously held the role of chair of the OECD Task Force on Novel Foods and Feeds for over 5 years.

Paul holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology (Honours)from Carleton University. Beyond his professional career, he is an active community leader, supporting youth development through sports as a coach in a variety of schools and clubs over the past 30 years.
