Laura Edgar is a governance and development professional with over twenty years of experience. As a Vice President, she leads the Institute’s work on board and organizational governance. She has a strong professional and academic background in the governance of public purpose organizations, civil society governance, business management, adult education, and international programming. Her work in board and organizational governance includes conducting governance assessments & governance renewal implementation plans, strategic planning, facilitation of board retreats, and providing training for a wide range of public purpose organizations with boards of directors. She has also conducted commissioned research on a number of current and emerging topics, including partnership building, collaborative governance, conflict of interest, improving member engagement, amalgamations, and the role of the board in stakeholder relations, and civil society-government relations. Major activities include research, writing of reports and publications, training and facilitation, and the provision of advisory services.
