Demilade is a policy and governance analyst with more than seven years of experience in climate change mitigation and resilience, green and circular economy, and the adoption of nature-based solutions. Her contributions to various policy problems have informed the strategies and decisions of key institutions internationally and she continues to inform evidence-based decision-making through research and evidence assessments.

Before joining the IOG, she worked with the Welsh Government in the UK, the Forum and the UNDP in Geneva and New York, and with provincial governments in South Africa where she addressed issues in sustainable development, climate resilience and humanitarian crises, and circular economy policies.

Demilade has a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Cambridge (UK), a PhD degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Johannesburg (South Africa) and a BSc (Hons) degree from Stellenbosch University (South Africa). In 2017, she received a L’Oréal-UNESCO award for her contributions to science and was a TEDx speaker at the University of Johannesburg’s inaugural TEDx event.

In her leisure time, Demilade enjoys writing and occasionally shares her thoughts on policy issues on different platforms.
