An IOG Strategic Dialogue Series. This event series aims to address the critical challenges facing the modern public service in Canada. By bringing together experts from various fields, we will explore key topics such as workforce transformation, combating disinformation, resource management, and intergovernmental collaboration.           Description

          Each session would run from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. Enjoy a warm breakfast and network with your colleagues starting at 8:00, the content begins at 8:30 with the promise to conclude by 9:45 so that people can make their 10 am meeting. A buffet breakfast would be available from 8:00 am.

          November 20 (Wednesday) : Redefining Work in the Public Service.: Is today’s workplace equipped to succeed in a disrupted future ?

           This event will explore how the public service can adapt to disruptions in the workplace, particularly in a post-COVID-19 world. It will focus on the challenges and opportunities of hybrid work, the need for digital transformation, and how to maintain public service values and resilience in the face of future disruptions.

          December 11 (Wednesday) : Responding to Disinformation: How can public servants combat disinformation to maintain trust in government?

          This session will address the increasing challenge of disinformation in political communications. A panel of experts will discuss how public servants can maintain citizen trust in government while combating disinformation, and explore strategies used by other jurisdictions to manage misinformation effectively.

          January 22 (Wednesday) : Working in a world of reduced resources: What reduced resources might mean for public service leaders.

          This event will examine the implications of reduced government resources and strategic expenditure management. Panelists will draw lessons from past government reviews and discuss what public service leaders can do to manage resources effectively in the face of fiscal challenges.

          Feb 5 (Wednesday) : In a time of reduced political cooperation, how can we ensure that intergovernmental collaboration remains effective?

          This session will focus on the importance of intergovernmental collaboration to address policy challenges that transcend constitutional powers. The panel will discuss successful collaborations between federal and provincial governments on issues such as health care, climate change, and potential future initiatives like national pharmacare​
