The government’s emphasis on Results and Delivery underscores the need for a return to basics in the way in which public servants approach policy and program design and implementation. Project management is core to achieving the government’s priorities, turning procedural burdens into strategic tools. Public servants need to be systematic and attentive to the stages necessary to design and deliver policies and programs that will make a real difference in the lives of citizens.

Participants in this course will learn how to use and leverage the basics of project management methodology to improve the development of policies and programs designed to achieve results and improve outcomes.

Why is this important?

Sound project management improves the likelihood of success of time-limited initiatives. Yet diminished resources and ever-tightened deadlines have eroded the application of project management principles and practices, contributing to program failures across the public sector. The government’s strong emphasis on Results and Delivery means public servants need to return to sound project management.

What you will gain

Participants will learn about:

  • Project management principles;
  • Dos and don’ts of project management to achieve project success;
  • Working Results and Delivery into the design of projects from the outset;
