State of Digital Government
- 11:00am - 12:30pm
Efforts by governments around the world to embrace the technologies and methods of the modern digital era have gained momentum in recent years. Rapid advancements in the technology sector have dramatically changed citizen expectations that are shaped by their experiences with companies such as Google, Amazon and Netflix. People’s interactions with government are in many cases out-of-step with the quality, timeliness, and user experience of what they have now come to expect in other aspects of their lives. In the background of all of this are the ongoing struggles that governments are having with technology procurement and digital project failures, along with organizational cultures and processes that have been resistant to adapt to the more agile and user-centered approaches that are the hallmark of the digital era. At the same time, the current COVID-19 pandemic crisis is putting pressure on the public sector to work and deliver services digitally like never before.
This opening session in our digital governance webinar series will bring together experienced digital leaders to provide their perspective on the current state of digital government initiatives across Canada and internationally, and start a discussion on where there is work yet to be done.
