Tom Shenstone has extensive experience in the Government of Canada in identifying, negotiating and implementing policy and program solutions. He has managed or overseen policy and program development across a broad range of departments and policy areas – in agriculture and economic development, in labour market policy, in trade policy, in regulatory affairs, and in aboriginal affairs.
Tom joined IOG in 2014. Prior to that he provided advice on policy and program issues to a number of agricultural organizations, after 35 years in the federal public service. In the Public Service he worked in trade policy with Finance, and Industry, Trade and Commerce, on economic development in the Privy Council Office and Intergovernmental Affairs, land claims in Indian and Northern Affairs Canada, on labour market policy in Human Resources Development Canada, and on agriculture and rural policies and federal-provincial relations in Agriculture and Agri-food Canada (AAFC). He has a B.A. (honours) in economics from the University of Toronto and an M.Sc.(econ) from the London School of Economics.
