Strengthening Democracy in Canada: Re-inventing the Town Hall Meeting

Auteurs: John

The underlying premise of this paper is that Canada’s democratic structures and processes need strengthening. Focusing on the modern town hall meeting, it explores how this methodology might be applied in Canada in three different contexts: on a national issue; on a large city issue; and on an issue concerning a small setting, such as a First Nations community.

« Practitioners in public involvement, like me in Health Canada, now have a new, very informative and well conceived tool at their disposal to discuss with decision makers and policy makers in our own organization in the planning and organizing of public participation activities. »
