Why the role of the policy professional is important
The course underscores that policy analysts, program officers and managers work in a complex environment of conflicting demands, expanding knowledge, multiple stakeholders, and issues that cut across the mandates of various departments and agencies. Making sense of all of these elements, while keeping the interests of Canadians at the forefront of policy formulation, requires a sound understanding of the policy process, relationships with networks of decision makers, and policy instruments that are available to address a range of modern policy issues.
