From 2005-2008 the IOG led Building Governance Capacity and Community Engagement in Lesotho: Youth Against HIV/AIDS (YAH), a project aimed at fostering strong governance and involving Youth Councils in four regions in Lesotho, the country with the third highest incidence of HIV/AIDS in the world. Through this initiative, Lesotho youth learned about HIV/AIDS and its relationship to gender equity. They assessed and promoted concrete steps to foster greater governance capacity and community engagement of civil society organizations within their own regions, in order to more effectively fight the HIV/AIDS pandemic among them.
