IOG Executive Leadership Program
The new IOG Executive Leadership Program will be launched on November 16, 2011.
This year-long program is for committed public service executives at the director level who want to hone their abilities to meet the on-going challenges of a fast-paced working environment and the transformative world of deficit reduction.
Through self-reflection, observation, practice, and feedback, participants will develop key leadership skills to improve resilience, to manage change, and to use evidence-based decision-making.
Insights from seasoned thought leaders combined with the benefits of a shared learning environment help reinforce individual learning outcomes. Participants will be expected to cascade that learning and leadership in their work across the public sector.
The theme of the IOG Executive Leadership Program, “Public Sector Governance and Management in a Web 2.0 World”, was arrived at during recent consultations with senior public sector officials, thought leaders, and leadership experts.
As part of the Institute on Governance’s learning evaluation framework, participants’ progress will be monitored throughout the program including speaking with participants’ supervisors to gauge to what extent learning has been applied to the work environment.
There are three modules:
• Evolving Public Sector Governance in a World of Deficit Reduction.
• Toward Better Public Sector Management: Responding To Change.
• Meeting the Challenges of Public Leadership in a Web 2.0 World.
A group study tour consolidates the applied learning.
A maximum of 24 participants will be accepted into each cohort of the IOG Executive Leadership Program. Participants should:
• Be at the EX-1 level or equivalent
• Have at least 3 years of supervisory experience
• Express, through a letter of intent, an interest in learning more about public sector management and governance in a Web 2.0 world
• Obtain the organization’s willingness to sponsor the tuition and related costs supported by a letter of reference.
Tuition for the IOG Executive Leadership Program is $20,000, which includes all instructional materials, leadership assessments, on-site meals, and classroom activities. In addition, ancillary costs of up to $4,000 are expected for the study tour expenses.
