Building Policy Capacity
In the belief that sound decisions create the best opportunity for a government to positively influence the quality of life of its citizens, the Institute offers a range of services designed to strengthen policy capacity within government and within the many organizations which contribute to policy development in a democratic society. We help policy practitioners and leaders find a balance between the public good and special interests, to assess long and short term impacts, and to get the best out of the strengths of players in the policy process.
Under 'building policy capacity', we focus on the process of policy development and decision making. We also apply our experience to specific policy issues e.g. health, biotechnology or Aboriginal policy. We have worked with client organizations in Canada and overseas to help them strengthen their capacity to face current challenges.
The IOG has particular expertise - developed through projects in Canada and internationally - in policy analysis and development, the central decision making process, the role of central agencies and skills development. For more information on how we can help your organization, contact us.
