Health and Innovation

In Canada, health governance is built on intergovernmental cooperation. It also takes place outside the governmental sphere and involves non-governmental organizations, the private sector, communities, and even individuals themselves. This complexity requires that capacities to govern be forged or strengthened, and that policy development be based on the best available evidence.

The IOG believes that good governance and a solid evidence base are essential components of a well-functioning health system. Our research has shown that if we improve the processes and institutions we use to make important decisions, we will have better outcomes for the health, wealth and well-being of society.
